An advice-based column is something that my paid subscribers have asked for, so a couple weeks ago I solicited questions and got more and faster than I thought I would; in the business they call this “organic growth.” While some of you asked my opinions on food and cities, many of these questions are essentially asking me “what is your lore.” That’s totally fine, and I have long toyed with making this blog more personal and my identity less abstract. I have left it pretty tempered, for now, but this isn’t the first time or with the most fervor you have asked me about my PhD, etc., so if you would like me to talk more in depth about something specific, let me know (for real—all of these questions were submitted anonymously, even what I suspect is my boyfriend’s, even though I specifically told you you could just ask me in the chat if you wanted to. I’m the one writing this thing—you’re not going to “embarrass” yourself in the comments section of “The Famous and Beloved Newsletter”).

If this is something you would like me to do again, I always have more to say about everything, so go for it. Maybe I should do themed ones, like, “ask me how to save money” since that’s something I’m really good at. But, again, that requires I reveal more about what I do and don’t do in my real life—beyond drinking Dunkin’—which I never know how to approach, as I have a hard time gauging how embarrassing this thing is. I think keeping this behind a paywall is a good place to start unloading those details, but, we’ll see.
